School is a child's workplace, where they spend up to eight hours a day, five days a week, during critical periods of their physiological development. Protecting everyone from COVID is essential, but avoiding or reducing other common low-level environmental exposures in schools such as toxic cleaning products, turf pesticides, diesel exhaust, wireless radiation and synthetic turf fields can have a significant positive impact on everyone's health.

The ChildSafe School is based on emerging, documented science linking chronic exposure to environmental exposures like these with negative health outcomes. The goal of this program is to provide facilities directors, administrators, teachers, staff and parents with a step-by-step framework to help make their schools as environmentally safe as they can be.
